Seguimos con la promoción del MFVF de este año quedándonos con la única represtación española del festival como son los valencianos L’Endeví. Hablamos con la banda para que nos cuente como afrontan dicho festival y que tienen preparado para su futuro. David Aresté Lidia G. |

M.S: Hola, muchas gracias por tomaros unos minutos para responder a nuestras preguntas. En primer lugar, ¿cómo estáis?
MARIO: Antes que nada, estoy muy feliz de contestar a vuestras preguntas. Aunque en España hace sol, la gente está en la playa con unas cervezas y pasándoselo bien debido al tiempo yo estoy pensando en el otoño jejejeje
M.S: Ya que es la primera vez que tenemos una entrevista con vosotros aquí en Metal Symphony, nos gustaría que os presentarais a nuestros lectores, hablando un poco sobre de dónde venís, cómo se formó la banda, cuáles son vuestras influencias…
MARIO: L’Endeví nació en 2007. Mamen (voces) y Jaume (guitarras) formaron el grupo, tenían 3 temas que querían grabar. Desde entonces tenemos dos álbumes, tres vídeos, muchos conciertos y otros proyectos. Todo el mundo tiene experiencia en metal, sin embargo nuestras influencias no solo provienen de grupos de metal, rock, blues, jazz, etc. también nos han ayudado en hacer nuestra música.
M.S. Para aquellos que no hayan escuchado vuestra música aún, ¿qué temas les recomendaríais para tener una idea de vuestro sonido?
MARIO: La mayoría de las críticas dicen que tenemos un sonido ecléctico, pero nosotros creemos que cada tema suena como l’Endeví. Cada uno de nosotros tiene un tema preferido, pero en mi opinión, sin duda: samsara, the maze, red ivy, an eternity y my crow son muy buenas también.
M.S: ¿Tenéis algún material disponible para compra o descarga? En ese caso, ¿dónde podemos encontrarlo?
MARIO: En este momento, como ya mencioné antes, tenemos dos álbums; When I Desire Something You Can’t Do (2009) y An Eternity que se pueden obtener en Art Gates Records, EMP o en TIPO, y por supuesto en todos los conciertos. Respecto a las descargas de la web, estamos en iTunes, Amazon y algún sitio más. Si tan solo queréis escucharnos, también nos podéis encontrar en YouTube o Spotify.
M.S: Después de 11 años, ¿qué creéis que tiene todavía el MFVF para ofrecer al público?
Mario: Sin duda, el sentimiento, magia, poder, fuerza…. ¡Que tienes en un concierto en vivo! Hoy en día, gracias a las nuevas tecnologías cualquiera podría ver y escuchar cientos de grupos gracias a internet, pero un concierto siempre te traerá emociones que la web no puede. Yo normalmente voy a conciertos porque es donde puedo ver la actitud y energía del grupo y apreciar detalles que en un álbum no puedo.
M.S: Y de vuestra parte, ¿qué ofreceréis a la gente que vaya y vea vuestra actuación?
Mario: ¡Todo!
M.S: ¿Algún favorito que tengáis intención de ver cuando toquen en el festival?
MARIO: Serenity es uno de los grupos que más ganas tengo de ver. No los he visto aún y seré feliz de conocerlos.
M.S: Si fuera posible hacer una jam session con cualquier miembro de los participantes en esta edición del MFVF, ¿quiénes serían vuestros elegidos? Más de un nombre es posible 😉
MARIO: Jejejeje. No podría decirte con quién. Me encantan las jam sessions, sería una gran oportunidad para muchos músicos de poder tocar con diferentes artistas, pero creo que si todos los artistas, famosos o no tocaran, sería una actuación increíble y hablarían de ello por todos lados.
M.S: Hablando de otros festivales, normalmente no hay más que un par de grupos de metal femenino y normalmente, los elegidos tienden a ser aquellos que han sido activos por más de 10 años o así, grupos como Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil… ¿Cuál es tu opinión al respecto?
MARIO: Creo que el mundo va cambiando día a día. Las tendencias evolucionan y la gente está preparada para escuchar y abrir la mente a nuevos estilos.
Ahora, como habéis descrito, tenemos que tener en cuenta que algunos de los grupos que habéis nombrado no eran tan importantes. Por lo tanto, esos festivales nos muestran que cada día los grupos con cantante femenina están más aceptados, son más seguidos y demandados.
MS: Y profundizando en este tema, ¿creéis que aún hay vida para este género? ¿Hay cosas que explorar más allá de las bastamente conocidas voces líricas con música metal? Sabemos que hay grupos con voces guturales (incluso femeninas), y otras intentan mezclar esa música con otros estilos como el electrónico y otros, pero sigue habiendo gente que no va a ir más allá de la primera noción…
MARIO: Aquellos a los que no les gusta el cambio y no están abiertos a nuevas influencias y estilos siempre han existido y siempre existirán. Todos comparamos muchos grupos y cuando lo escuchas por primera vez dices ‘son como…’ ‘suenan como…’, en otras palabras, hay una idea pre-establecida. Gracias a Dios, hay gente que todavía se sorprende y ve cosas nuevas, algo diferente… En mi opinión, al principio había una tendencia en el aspecto lírico y ahora hay otra tendencia; voces guturales o distorsionadas. Eso es lo que hace de la música algo increíble, siempre cambia, crea, se adapta… cada grupo intenta coger un poco de cada estilo que les influencia y adaptarlo a su propio estilo, creando nuevos estilos y diferentes opciones y tendencias.
M.S: Cambiando de tema, ¿qué planes tenéis para el futuro próximo? ¿Algún concierto o grabación a parte del festival?
MARIO: Nunca paramos. Después del concierto vamos a grabar un acústico en directo, continuaremos tocando, otro vídeo…
M.S: El MFVF reúne grupos de diferentes países, ¿cuáles recomendarías de tu propio país?
MARIO: Chaostar me ha sorprendido mucho, usan instrumentos diferentes, algunos de ellos no muy comunes en el sector del metal y han dado un toque distinto en el aspecto vocal.

M.S: Hi, thanks a lot for taking a few minutes to answer to our questions. First of all, how are you?
MARIO: First of all i´m really happy to answer you, although in Spain it´s sunny, people are in the beach having fun and beers due to our weather. I´m thinking about autumn, jejejeje
M.S: As it is the first time we get to have an interview with you here at Metal Symphony, we’d like you to introduce yourselves to our readers talking a bit about where are you coming from, how was your band formed, what are your influences…
MARIO: L´Endeví was born in 2007. Mamen (voices) and Jaume (guitars) formed the band, they had 3 songs and they wanted to record them, since then we´ve got two albums, three videos, lots of concerts and other projects. Everyone has experience in the metal style, however our influence does not only come from metal bands, rock, blues, jazz, etc have also help us to do our music.
M.S: For those who haven’t listened to your music yet, which songs would you strongly recommend for them to have an idea of your sound?
MARIO: Most of the critics suggest we´ve got an eclectic sound, but we think that every song sounds L´Endeví. Each one of us prefer a song, but in my opinion, without doubt; samsara, the maze, red ivy, an eternity and my crow are really great ones too.
M.S: Do you have any material available to purchase or download? If so, where can people go to get it or listen to it?
MARIO: At the moment, as I mentioned before, we´ve got two albums, both of them. When I Desire Something You Can´t Do (2009) and An Eternity can be bought at Art Gates Records, EMP or at TIPO, and of course, in every concert we play. M.S: After 11 years, what do you think the MFVF still has to offer to the audience?
MARIO: Without doubt, the feeling, magic, power, strength…that you´ve got in a live show!!!
Nowadays, thanks to new technologies anyone could see and listen to thousands of bands thanks to internet, but a concert will always arise emotions that web can´t offer.
I usually go to concerts because it´s where I can see the actitude and energy of the band and appreciate details that in an album I can´t.
M.S: And on your side, what will you offer to the people that will go there and see your performance?
MARIO: Everything!!!!
M.S: Any favourites you intend to see on the fest when they are on stage?
MARIO: Serenity is one of the bands I’m looking forward to see. I haven´t seen them yet and I will be very happy to meet them.
M.S: If a jam session could happen with any members of those participating in this MFVF’s edition’s line-up, who would be your chosen ones for? More than one name is possible 😉
MARIO: Jejejeje. I couldn´t tell you with who, I love jamsessions, a great chance for many musicians would be having the opportunity to play with different artist, but I believe if every artist, famous or not played, would be an incredible performing and they would talk about it in every place.
M.S: Talking about other fests, you usually don’t get more than a couple of bands off the femme-metal genre, and normally, the chosen ones tend to be picked up from those who have been active for more than 10 years or so, bands like Epica, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil… What’s your opinion on this issue?
MARIO: I think the world is changing day by day. Tendencies evolucionate and people ready to hear and open their minds to new styles.
Now, as you are describing it, we have to take into account that. Some years ago many of the groups you´ve just mentioned weren´t so important. Therefore, those fest are showing that each day groups where the singer is a female are more accepted, followed and demanded.
MS: And going deeper into this topic, do you consider there’s still life for the genre? Is there more to explore beyond the "so well-know lyrical voices with metal music"? We know there are bands with gutural voices (even female ones), and others are trying mixing this music with other types like electronic and some others, but there’s still people who won’t look further from that first notion…
MARIO: Those who don´t like changing and aren´t open to new influences and styles have always existed and they will always exist. All of us compare many bands, and when you first listen to them, you say: they are like…it sound like…in other words…there is a idea pre-establized.
Thanks God, there are people who are still surprised and they see new things…something different…
In my opinion, at first there was a tendency in the lyrical aspect and now there´s another tendency; voices which are guttural or distortionated, that´s what makes incredible the music, it always changes, creates, adaptes… each band tries to pick a bit of every style that they are influenced and adapted to their own way…creating new styles and different options and tends.
M.S: Changing topics, what are you up to these days? Any concert or recording apart from the fest?
MARIO: We never stop. After the fest we´re recording an acoustic direct, continue playing, another video…
M.S: The MFVF gathers bands from very different countries together, which ones would you recommend from your own country?
MARIO: Chaostar has surprised me a lot, they use different instruments, some of them not very common in the metal sector and they also give a different touch with the voice aspect.
