M.S: Hello everyone, it’s a pleasure to have you on our webpage. How are you?

Hello and thanks for having us / me. I’m fine thanks. We’ve been quite busy touring and writing the songs for our second album which we’re starting to record on August 20th at Jacob Hansen’s studio in Ribe, Denmark under the supervision and production of Mr. Hansen himself.

M.S: First of all congratulations on your show at Sweden Rock Festival. It seemed to us full of energy and with a lot of strength. How did you live it? Being in your country and in front of such a huge audience …

Thanks! It was a great show and we enjoyed it a lot. We had some minor problems with our keyboard backing tracks on one track (Inside A Lullaby) so we needed to cut that out but the show was great in general nevertheless. The audience was amazing and really lived with us during the show. Which is always such a rewarding experience.

M.S: It was weird not to see any bass player after Peter’s departure. Haven’t you thought about putting someone else in their place instead of carrying the bass on the speakers?

Since we have keyboards coming from backing tracks, so we play with a click track anyway, it was an easy decision to use Peter’s bass from the album with the keyboard backing tracks as well. On a first couple of shows it felt a bit weird but we figured out really quickly that it works surprisingly well since the four of have such a great chemistry between us on and off the stage.

We’ve discussed about maybe getting a bass player but since it has worked out so well we’ll do at least this album cycle’s shows like this. We’ll see if we keep on doing shows like this when the second album’s touring cycle starts but it has worked so well now so we’ll see what happens.

M.S: You have played few concerts with this "Letters To Myself" although you have done several festivals this summer. How was the response from the people?

We did a four week North American tour opening for Sabaton & Kreator in February – March this year and the response from the audience was a lot better than we expected. It was our first tour as Cyhra and since we’re quite a new band we really didn’t know what to expect but we realised that the audience was actually there to see us too and we weren’t just the “necessary” opening band. So we made quite a lot of new fans on that tour. Big hand to Sabaton & Kreator for taking us on the road ‘cos it was a big tour with big audiences from 1000-4000 people per show.

And the response from people regarding our headling shows and festival shows has been really great too. Good times!

M.S: We suppose that you will wait to go on tour in Europe when you have the new album and thus have more material to play live, don’t we?

Yes we definitely will. There was some discussions & offers to a European tour this Fall but we decided to go to studio to record the second album and really start to tour on 2019.

M.S: Out of curiosity, has it been proposed to add a version of In Flames or Amaranthe to the setlist? If you are going to answer with a resounding NO … hehe … at least of some other artist?

No we haven’t discussed about that, But of some other artists we have discussed. But only discussed 🙂

M.S: Going back to the new album, do you have a date for the launch? What are the new songs like?

The date will be decided by our record label Spinefarm Records when the album is ready but it will most likely be early / Spring 2019.

I guess they are a bit more riff oriented and faster than on the first album. But that being said there’s also some slower / mid tempo songs as well. We’ve written about 20 songs and we’re going to record most likely about 15-16 of them and the album will most likely to have about 12 songs and the rest will most likely be used as bonus tracks on special editions etc.

M.S: In the first album’s songs maybe it was inevitable to hear a bit of In Flames since it was part of the sound of the band … Now where would you say the sound of Cyhra is going? Toward something more melodic or heavier?

The first album was written completely by Jesper & Jake so you inevitably hear echoes from the past ;-).

Since I’ve been part of the song writing for this forthcoming album also so there’s going to be some new flawors as well but in general it will sound like Cyhra which is melodic & heavy
