With two highly anticipated shows coming up — Lion Rock Fest in León and Rock the Sun in Barcelona — Remedy is getting ready to bring their powerful melodic hard rock to Spanish audiences. Just months away from these performances, the band talks to us about their second album Pleasure Beats the Pain , how their sound has evolved since their debut, and what’s next in this exciting new chapter.
David Aresté
First of all, how are you? Thank you so much for your time and for speaking with us.
We’re doing great, thank you! It’s been an exciting time for us, and we truly appreciate the chance to talk about what we’ve been up to. The energy around the band right now is incredible.
What did you want to convey with Pleasure Beats the Pain?
The album is about finding light in the darkness — that even in tough times, there’s joy, connection, and music that can carry you through. We wanted every song to have both emotional depth and a strong, uplifting spirit.
What was the creative process like for the album? Did you start working on it right after the first record?
Yes, ideas started flowing shortly after we released Something That Your Eyes Won’t See. We’re always writing, so we already had fragments, riffs, and lyrical ideas waiting to be developed. The process was very collaborative, and we pushed ourselves to make each song feel alive both in the studio and on stage.
What differences would you highlight between Something That Your Eyes Won’t See and Pleasure Beats the Pain?
The first album was about establishing our sound and identity. With the second, we were more confident and willing to explore new dynamics. It’s heavier in places, more melodic in others, and emotionally more diverse.
How has the response been from fans and critics to this second album?
It’s been amazing. We’ve received messages from all over the world, and the feedback tells us that the songs really resonate. Critics have picked up on the balance between strong hooks and meaningful lyrics, which is exactly what we aim for.
Do you have any plans to release new material soon?
Absolutely. We’re already working on new music — writing never really stops for us, and we feel we have the momentum now to evolve as a band and as a live act.
You’re set to play at Lion Rock Fest in León and Rock The Sun in Barcelona. What are your expectations for these shows in Spain?
We can’t wait! Spain has such passionate rock fans, and the energy at these festivals is always electric. We’re expecting unforgettable nights with a lot of singing, smiling, and headbanging.
How are you planning your setlists for these festivals? Will you be performing any new material?
The setlists will be built to keep the crowd engaged from the first chord to the last. We’ll mix fan favourites with some deep cuts and yes, possibly a taste of something new.
What does it mean to you to share the stage with bands like Pretty Maids or Nestor?
It’s an honour. These are bands we admire and have been inspired by. Sharing the stage with them is not only exciting but also a great opportunity to connect with their audiences and create a memorable experience for everyone.
How do you see the current melodic hard rock scene in Europe?
We think it’s thriving. There’s a strong community of bands and fans keeping the spirit alive, while also bringing fresh energy and modern production to the genre. It’s a great time to be part of it.
What can we expect from Remedy in the near and mid-term future?
More shows, more music, and an even deeper connection with our fans. We’re committed to growing as a band and delivering performances and records that leave a mark.
It’s been a pleasure talking with you. Would you like to send a message to your Spanish fans before your shows in León and Barcelona?
To all our Spanish fans: ¡Muchas gracias! Your passion and support mean the world to us. We can’t wait to see you, share our music with you, and create some unforgettable memories together. See you soon — and let’s make it loud!
