MS: Hola chicos, gracias por tomaros algún tiempo en responder nuestras preguntas. ¿Cómo estáis?
S.L: Estamos bien, estamos de camino a Colonia donde tocaremos esta noche.
MS: Acaba de salir vuestro último CD “The Seraphic Clockwork”, está yendo bien?
S.L: Absolutamente,. Hemos entrado en las listas alemanas en la posición 74, lo cual es fantástico. Todas las reviews son positivas en todas partes, es una buena señal después de todo el trabajo que hicimos en este CD.
MS: Vuestro nuevo cd trata otra vez con una historia conceptual, y hasta donde yo sé, Andy Kutz está detrás de la idea. Podéis contarnos como se desarrolla la historia?
S.L: En una frase: La historia del concepto del álbum trata sobre un viaje en el tiempo. El protagonista, que vive en Roma en el s. XVI, cae bajo el hechizo de una profecía del Antiguo Testamento. Viaja en el tiempo hasta Jerusalem en el año 33 dónde debe enfrentarse al destino dado por Dios.
MS: En mi opinión habéis hecho un gran trabajo, y la banda tiene un sonido muy personal, incluso podemos ver vuestra evolución en los últimos años. El sonido es poderoso y todas las partes encajan juntas. Cuál es vuestra opinión acerca de esto? Cómo se siente la banda actualmente?
S.L: Ése es un gran cumplido, muchísimas gracias! Nuestra meta es mejorar con cada nuevo CD. Intentamos incluir nuevos elementos que hemos aprendido de nuestro trabajo en varios teatros donde hemos estado comprometidos con algunos musicales. Eso nos ayuda un montón a mejorar nuestras propias canciones.
MS: Como un gran fan de la banda, siempre espero vuestros nuevos trabajos, y me pregunto, por qué os lleva tanto tiempo publicar nuevos cds? Entre los últimos dos discos y los anteriores hay unos 4 años de diferencia. Váis a continuar con esta “tradición” en el futuro?
S.L: Esperemos que rompamos con esa tradición! Hay una explicación simple para eso: Desde 2002 hemos estado comprometidos con más de 10 musicales. El trabajo en el teatro es genial, y aprendemos un montón de cosas que podemos utilizar para Vandem Plas. Pero, El trabajo en el teatro reclama mucho tiempo y ese tiempo lo perdemos de cosas que queremos hacer con Vandem Plas. Intentamos distribuirnos lo mejor posible, pero no nos podemos dividir en varias personas, así que tenemos que tratar con este problema. Como ya estamos escribiendo canciones nuevas para nuestro próximo CD, esperamos que no nos lleve tanto tiempo otra vez. Pero no prometo nada.
MS: Sé que sois personas que trabajáis duro, Andy en el teatro, Günter con sus proyectos paralelos Consortium Projects, Section A, Missa Mercuria e incluso girando con otras bandas como Kamelot, etc. Tienes en mente otros proyectos paralelos a parte de Vanden Plas?
S.L: No, en absoluto. Por el momento. Como te he mencionado antes, tenemos suficiente que hacer con nuestros compromisos en el teatro y con Vanden Plas. No queda tiempo para más.
MS: Es bien conocida de la carrera teatral de Andy, en particular en la ópera rock “Ludus Daniellis”, donde la misma banda participó en la composición de las partes con Gunter, de hecho, la edición en digipack de vuestro último cd contiene dos videoclips. Váis a lanzar la opera rock en DVD o en formato CD?
S.L: Ludus Daniellis ya ha salido en DVD, puedes echar un vistazo a algunos vídeos en nuestra web. El tema “Eleyson”, que es el bonus track de la edición especial, es una de las canciones más importantes que compuse para ese musical.
MS: Hablando de nuevo del teatro, además de Ludus Daniellis, también habéis adaptado para teatro vuestro anterior trabajo “Christ O”. Tal y como comenté antes, The Seraphic Clockwork también es un trabajo conceptual. Estáis considerando la adaptación de la historia para teatro?
S.L: Sí, ya estamos en contacto con las personas responsables. Pinta bien, pero nada está confirmado todavía.
MS: Como habéis estado involucrados en tantos proyectos diferentes supongo que vuestros shows en directo no han sido muy numerosos. De hecho, vuestros tours se concentran mayoritariamente en Alemania y algunos shows en otros países europeos. Váis a presentar en directo “The Seraphic Clockwork”? Tocaríais en España?
S.L: Tienes toda la razón, no hemos tocado en directo demasiado durante los últimos años. Debido a los diferentes compromisos y proyectos no hemos podido hacer ningún tour “de verdad”. El tiempo dirá si podemos cambiar esto. Eso esperamos, pero tenemos que ver como se presenta el futuro…
MS: Estamos acabando esta entrevista, pero antes me gustaría saber cuáles son vuestros planes dentro del Rock
S.L: Además de algunas ideas para musicales, nos gustaría sacar el próximo CD lo antes posible.
MS: Eso fue todo desde Metal Symphony, gracias otra vez por compartir vuestro tiempo con nosotros. Hay algo que queráis añadir para vuestros fans españoles?
S.L: Me acuerdo de nuestro último concierto en España, fue hace unos cuantos años. Fue en un festival grande, pero hizo un frío increíble. Nos gustaría volver a España, pero por favor, a un área más cálida de vuestro país!

M.S: You have just released your last cd "The Seraphic Clockwork". Is it doing good?
> Absolutely. We entered the German Charts on Pos. 74, which is great. The reviews are positive everywhere, that´s a good sign after all tue work we did for tue CD.
M.S: Your new cd deals again with a conceptual story, and, as far as I know, Andy Kuntz is behind the idea. Can you tell us about how the story is developed?
> In one sentence: The story of the concept album tells about a journey in time. The protagonist, who lives in 16th century Rome, comes under the spell of an Old Testament prophecy. He travels back to Jerusalem in the year 33 anno Domini where he must face his God-given destiny.
M.S: In my opinion, you have created a great piece of work and the band has a very personal sound, even, we can see your evolution in the last years. The sound is very powerful and all the bits fit together. What`s your opinion about this? How does the band feel nowadays?
> That´s a great compliment, thanks a lot. Our goal is to get better with every new CD. We try to include new stuff which we learned at our work in the various Theaters where we´ve been engaged for some Musicals. That helps us a lot to improve our own Songs.
M.S: As a great fan of the band, I always look forward to your new piece of work and I wonder, Why does it take you so long to publish new cds?. Between the last two and the previous ones there is a 4-year gap difference. Are you going to continue with this "tradition" in the future?
> We hope that we will break with that “Tradition” … :-). There is a simple explanation for that: Since 2002 we´ve been engaged for more than 10 Musicals. The work at the Theater is great, and we learn a lot what we can use for Vanden Plas. But: The work at the Theater claims a lot of time, and this time is sometimes missing for the things we want to do with Vanden Plas. We really give out best, but we can´t divide ourselves in different persons. So we have deal with that problem. As we are already writing new songs for the next CD, and we hope that it won´t take that long again. But I don´t make any promiskes :-).
M.S: I know you are very hard-working people, Andy and the theatre, Gunter with his side projects Consortium Project, Section A, Missa Mercuria and even touring with other bands like Kamelot, etc. Do you have in mind other side projects apart from Vanden Plas?
> No, not at all. For the moment. As I mentioned above we have to do enough with our Theater engagements and Vanden Plas itself. There is no time left.
M.S: It is very well-known Andy’s acting career, in particular in the Rock opera "Ludus Danielis", where the band itself participated in the composition of the parts with Gunter, in fact, the Digipack edition of your last cd contains two clips. Are you going to release the Rock opera in DVD or cd format?
> “Ludus Danielis” is already released on DVD. You can take a look at some clips on our website. The song “Eleyson”, which is the Bonus track of the special Edition, is one of the major Songs which I composed for that musical.
M.S: Talking again about theatre, apart from Ludus Danielis, you have also adapted for theatre your previous work "Christ O". As I mentioned before, The Seraphic Clockwork is also conceptual. Are you considering the adaption of the story to the theatre?
> Sure, we are already in contact with the responsible persons. It looks good, but nothing is confirmed yet.
M.S: Since you have been involved in so many different projects, I guess, your live shows haven’t been so numerous. In fact, your tours are concentrated mainly in Germany and some shows in other European countries. Are you going to play live to present "The Seraphic Clockwork"? Would you play in Spain?
> You´re absolutely right. We haven´t played live that much during the last years. Because of the different enegagements and project we weren´t able to do a real tour. Time will tell if we can change that. We hope to, but we have to see what comes up in the future.
M.S: We are finishing this interview now but before so, I’d like to now what your future plans inside Rock are.
> Beside some musical-ideas we really like to realease the next CD asap.
M.S: That was all from Metal Symphony, thank you again for sharing your time with us. Is there anything you’d like to add for your Spanish fans?
> I remember our last concert in Spain which is already years ago. It was at a big Festival, but it was unbelievable cold. We want to come back to Spain, but please in a warmer area of your country.
