¡Ójala podamos ir a España, sería maravilloso! 🙂

ENGLISH VERSION

Hi Kari, thanks a lot for your time, it’s a great pleasure to have you in our webzine, how are you?

– I am very well thank you! I have just finished the main recordings of my new solo album and I am so happy with how it turned out!! It will be released this year 🙂

A few months ago you joined The Sirens project with Anneke and Liv, how did you three get in touch in the beggining? How did the idea for this project come up? What was your opinion about it?

– Anneke and I had already been talking about working together in some form. Then she and Liv started talking about this live concept with the girls who started out with metal female voices and the collaboration started. I thought it was a great idea, and for me personally a fantastic opportunity to do the old Thr 3rd and the Mortal songs live again!

Apart from the obvious difference in your vocal ranges, which rol would you say each of you adopt within the band?

– We all share equal parts of singing – we all have 6 songs each of our solo material and previous metal bands material. We alter between duets, trios and solo and we have three The Sirens songs as well.

Not only The Sirens play well-known songs from the musical career of the three of you, but you have even composed 3 songs. Don’t you think that the good vibes between all of you could have been enough to record a whole album? Is the project something temporary or do you think it has a future in which maybe an album will be recorded?

– Yes – we all love the project, but we also have our solo-careers and other projects besides that too, so at the moment it doesn’t look as though we will be able to record a whole album.

In case the project lasts more than just a few live shows, do you think you could ever consider joining another "siren"? Maybe just for a punctual collaboration?

– Right now, we are really happy with the three of us, so we haven’t discussed that, but who knows what the future will bring 🙂

What would you say to our readers for them to go to one of your shows? What new things do you think the project has to offer that differs from your wide careers? Besides, because of all your past experience, you’ve seen how women voices have grown in number in metal music… why’s now the moment for "The Sirens"?

– I would say it is a journey back in time to hear all those songs that inspired to what would become this scene that has now grown so big. It is also an super opportunity to hear material from all our tree singers in a different way – with duets, trios and so on. Also there are a lot of great singing going on! 😉 To me personally, being able to sing those songs from The 3rd and the Mortal era being performed live with such a great band with excellent and dedicated musicians is a wonderful experience.

You’ve already played together in various countries around the world, how was your experience? How was the response of the audience?

– The response from the audience has been tremendous!! It has been a fantastic time playing with The Sirens, meeting all the wonderful people out there has been so amazing, they have really been welcoming us so warm-heartedly.

As far as we know, The Sirens project is something people shows a lot of interest in, in fact you’ve been invited to play on Sweden Rock, how did you feel when you were asked to join the festival?

– Yes, I know – we are so grateful for the interest from so many places!! Sweden Rock will be great and also the other shows we have planned this summer – Romania “Metal Head Meeting”, “Tuska Open Air” in Finland, “Summer Breeze” in Germany and also a show in my hometown Trondheim in august at a great outdoor scene called Sverresborg Arena with Nightwish.

In case you’d have to choose a male version of "The Sirens", who would you choose and why?

– He, he – I really don’t know, sorry!

And lastly… will we be lucky enough to see you girls in Spain?

– Hopefully we will be able to come to Spain, that would be great!! 🙂

Thanks a lot for your time, we’ve reached the end of our interview, it’s been an honor interviewing you and we hope to hear from you soon

– Thank you so much for the interview!! Take care and see you soon! 🙂
