A unos días de que editasen su nuevo «Live in Carthage», nos pusimos en contacto con Morgan Berthet, batería de Myrath para que nos explicaran como habían vivido esa gira que tuvieron que cortar por el Covid19 y que no pudo llegar a Madrid, su situación en aquellos días además de contarnos como prepararon esa grabación especial entre otras cosas…

M.S: Hola a todos, gracias por atendernos y contestar a nuestras preguntas en estos días tan raros y difíciles, esperamos que estéis bien…
Hola, estamos bien, gracias!
M.S: Nos hemos quedado con las ganas de veros en Madrid, ya que tuvisteis que cancelar la segunda mitad de la gira, ¿cómo la estabais viviendo hasta entonces?
La gira iba genial, un poco angustiante ya que solo habíamos hecho 4 shows cuando Italia se canceló. Pensamos que al menos podríamos terminar nuestros shows en Alemania, que era como un gran tercio de esa gira, pero no. Con todo fue increíble tocar esos 11 primeros shows.
M.S: ¿Tenéis pensado recuperar las fechas en el futuro o nos tendremos que conformar de momento con veros con vuestro nuevo “Live in Carthage”?
Unas cuantas ya han sido reprogramadas para septiembre, aunque todavía estamos esperando con las de España. De todos modos, encontraremos una manera de venir lo más pronto posible. Nada está lo suficientemente claro todavía como para reservar algo, lamentablemente.
M.S: Imaginamos que vuestros planes eran hacer la gira de presentación de vuestro nuevo trabajo Shehili, editar vuestro DVD y tener más tiempo para componer para el próximo disco, pero ahora se ha juntado la suspensión de la gira con la salida del DVD… ¿Cómo os afecta la nueva situación, reajustaréis los planes de un futuro nuevo disco y todo lo que ibais a hacer?
De hecho nos da mucho tiempo para trabajar en el nuevo álbum. Unos cuantos de nosotros estamos atrapados en un estudio, por lo que al menos tenemos la posibilidad de trabajar correctamente, lo que incluso podría acelerar el proceso, y, por qué no, nos permite lanzar un nuevo álbum antes de lo esperado, quién sabe. Pero sí, con respecto a los shows que no hemos terminado con el Magical Tour, tan pronto como podamos volveremos a la carretera.
M.S: Suponemos que os visteis en una complicada situación económica para tener que activar una campaña de crowdfunding e intentar vender el merchandising de vuestra gira… Si no llegáis a la cantidad que habéis puesto ¿no podríais venderlo igualmente más tarde o intentar venderlo online?
Se trataba sobre todo del merchandising impreso para la gira, con las fechas del tour, que no habrían sido útiles en el futuro, los fans estaban decepcionados de no poder nosotros y de no tener la posibilidad de comprar el nuevo merch. No somos fans del crowdfunding, pero pensamos que estaría bien hacer uno. Tal vez eso no esté claro cuando no eres parte de una banda, pero ese dinero no está destinado a repartirse entre nosotros porque hayamos perdido shows, es más para la pérdida del merchandising y para ayudarnos a imprimir el nuevo para las nuevas giras. El crowdfunding terminó hoy, alcanzamos nuestro objetivo, incluso más. Realmente tenemos fans increíbles y les agradecemos profundamente su apoyo.
M.S: También habéis puesto todos los discos firmados, incluso vuestro primer disco del 2007, ¿es una reedición o son copias que os quedaban por vender?
Todo se reedita, sí, nuestras existencias no duran mucho en general, lo cual es bueno. Algunos de estos álbumes ya se han reimpreso / reeditado varias veces. El de 2007 se agotó durante meses, tal vez años. Estamos contentos de que todo se haya reeditado.
M.S: Como decíamos, quienes no hemos podido veros en vivo tendremos la oportunidad de veros en vuestro próximo “Live in Carthage”, contadnos cómo surgió la idea de grabar el material para hacer un DVD y como lo vivisteis…
Creo que todo comenzó cuando hicimos ese festival en Cartago hace unos años. Allí surge la idea de que, desde luego, en algún momento tendremos que hacer un DVD, pero ¿por qué no allí? Tenía que ser en Túnez, teníamos que hacer eso para nuestros fans tunecinos. Llenamos ese anfiteatro con alrededor de 7000 fans entonces, así que decidimos filmar allí. Tuvimos la oportunidad de regresar con nuestros propios shows especiales como 2 años después. Fue cuando filmamos todo. Fue un proceso muy largo y difícil, para ser totalmente honesto, y veréis en el making-of que nada funcionó como se planificó. NADA. Desde nuestros equipajes perdidos, hasta vuelos cancelados, retrasos con los visados, equipos perdidos, rotos, que no funcionan, etc.… Tuvimos la semana más difícil. Pero una vez en el escenario, gracias a nuestros fans, fue mágico, trajeron la magia esa noche.
M.S: Un directo que indica un gran capítulo de vuestra historia como banda, más de diez años de carrera, multitud de discos editados, conciertos… ¿qué balance hacéis de la carrera del grupo a día de hoy? ¿Estáis contentos con lo conseguido?
Estamos orgullosos y felices de lo que hemos logrado, por supuesto. Estamos haciendo cosas con las que soñábamos hace unos años, pero / y tenemos mucho más que hacer. Es como si nunca terminara. Cada vez que alcanzamos algo, soñamos con algo más grande. Pero sí, por supuesto, estamos muy contentos de nuestra gran familia Myrath.
M.S: Como otras muchas bandas habéis optado por la alternativa que nos brinda estos días internet ¿Qué respuesta estáis observando de los acústicos que estáis haciendo por streaming, tenéis pensado hacer más o sería viable incluso hacer alguno en eléctrico?
Al principio solo queríamos ofrecer un show acústico muy humilde para los fans que se perdieron la gira. No estamos todos juntos, así que no es posible que toda la banda lo haga, pero no esperábamos hacerlo cada 2 o 3 días Creo que tenemos unos pocos miles de personas viéndonos y recibimos tantos mensajes pidiendo más que decidimos continuar. Dijimos que tocaríamos mientras durara el crowdfunding. No sé si realmente vamos a parar, jaja. Sería increíble hacer un show normal, pero sí, es realmente imposible, además creo que tenemos vecinos, ¡y no estoy muy seguro de que les encante!

Hi, we are well, thank you!
M.S: We were left with the desire of seeing you in Madrid, since you had to cancel the second half of the tour, how were you experiencing it personally until then?
The tour was pretty cool, a lil be worrying since we only did 4 shows when Italy got cancelled, we thought we were at least able to finish our shows in Germany which was like one big third of that tour, but no. All in all it was amazing to play those 11 first shows.
M.S: Are you planning to recover the dates in the future or will we have to resign ourselves to seeing you with your new «Live in Carthage»?
Few of them have already been rescheduled for September, we’re still waiting for Spain though. We’ll find a way to come as son as possible anyway, nothing’s really clear enough yet to book anything, sadly.
MS: We imagine that you were planning to tour in orden to present your new album ‘Shehili’, edit your DVD and have more time to compose for the next album, but now the suspension of the tour comes together with the release of the DVD… How does the new situation affect you? Will you readjust the plans for a future new album and everything you were going to do?
Indeed it gives us a lot of time to work on the new album, few of us are stuck in a studio so at least we have the possibility to work properly, that might even accelerate the process, and why not allows us to release a new album sooner than expected who knows. But yes concerning tours we’re not done with the magical tour, as soon as we can, we’ll go back on the road.
M.S: We suppose that you were in a difficult financial situation to have to activate a crowdfunding campaign and try to sell the merchandising of your tour … If you do not reach the amount you have put, could you sell it later or try to sell it online?
That was more about that merch printed for the tour, with tour dates, that wouldn’t have been useful in the furur, fans were disappointed not being able to us, and not having the possibility to buy the new merch. We’re not found of crowdunfing but we thought it would be ok to do one. That’s maybe no clear when you’re not part of a band but that money isn’t meant to be divided between us because we lost shows, it’s more against a waste of merch and to help u sprint new ones for the newt tours. The crowdfunding is over today, we reached our goal, even more, we really do have awesome fans and we deeply thank them for their support.
M.S: You added all the signed albums too, including your first one of the year 2007, is it a reissue or are they copies that you have left to sell?
Everything is reissued yes, our stocks don’t last long in general, which is a good thing, some of these albums hhave been reprinted/reissued several times already. That one from 2007 has been sold out for months, maybe years, we’re happy everything has been reissued.
M.S: As we said, those of us who have not been able to see you live will have the opportunity to see you in your next «Live in Carthage», tell us how did the idea of ??recording a DVD come up and how you lived it …
I think it all started when we did that festival in Carthage few years ago, there grows that idea that of course at some point we’ll have to do a dvd, but why not there? It had to be in Tunisia, we had to do that for our Tunisian fans, we filled that amphytheater with around 7000 fans back then, so we decided we’ll film there. We had the opporunity to come back for our own special shows like 2 years after, that’s when we filmed everything. It was a very long and hard process, to be totally honest, and you’ll see that in the making of, nothing worked as planned, NOTHING. From our lost luggages, to cancelles flights, to visa delayed, gears lost, broken, that don’t work, etc… we had the hardest week ever. But once on stage, thanks to our fans, it was magical, they brought the magic that night.
M.S: A live concert that indicates a great chapter in your history as a band, more than ten years of career, loads of released albums, concerts … what stock do you take of the group’s career today? Are you happy with what you have achieved so far?
We’re proud and happy of what we achieved of course, we’re doing things we were dreaming about few years ago, but/and we have so much more to do, it’s like it Will never end, each time we reach something, we dream about bigger. But yes of course we’re really happy of our big Myrath family
M.S: Like many other bands, you opted for the alternative that the Internet offers us these days. What response are you observing from the acoustics gigs you are playing through streaming, do you plan to play more or would it even be feasible to play an electrical one?
At first we just wanted to offer a very humble accoustic show for the fans who missed us on tour, we’re not all together so that’s not possible to have the whole band doing that, but we weren’t expected to do so every 2 or 3 days. I think we have few thousands people watching us and we got so many messages asking for more of those that we decided to carry on. We said we’d play as long as the crowdfunding’s on, I don’t know if we’re really gonna stop haha. It would be awesome to be a real show but yeah it’s really impossible, plus I think we do have neighbours, and I’m not quite sure they would love that!
