Aunque ya está envuelto y casi acabando el nuevo disco de estudio de Ayreon "Transitus", nos pusimos en contacto con el gran Arjen Lucassen para que nos contase sus impresiones sobre su último “The Electric Castle Live…” además de todo lo relacionado con el mundo de Ayreon. == Todo bien, David, muchas gracias por preguntar!
M.S: Tu ultimo directo “The Electric Castle Live…” salió hace tres semanas, ¿qué tal está siendo la respuesta de la crítica y de los fans?
== ¡Extremadamente positivo! Normalmente soy muy inseguro con los lanzamientos, pero esta vez estaba muy seguro del proyecto. Así que aunque suene arrogante… no me sorprende que las reacciones sean tan positivas
M.S: Con "Electric Castle…" solo ibas a tocar en “Night of the prog” y con "Ayreon Universe" hiciste varios… Creemos que la producción de EC es mucho más compleja que Ayreon Universe, ¿estás de acuerdo?
== Hmm… no mucho la verdad. Creo que es igual de compleja. Pero por supuesto, ¡el diseño y la construcción del castillo era importante! Reunir a todos los cantantes para el Ayreon Universe fue complicado.
M.S: ¿Quién te sorprendió con su actuación en los directos de EC?
== Los conozco a todos muy bien, así que no me sorprendió ninguno en particular. Todos hicieron lo que esperaba que hicieran. Quizá me sorprendió algo más Hippie… estuvo mejor que lo que imaginaba?
MS: Es un trabajo muy meticuloso el que haces para cada una de las ediciones de “Electric Castle Live”, desde una caja de lujo en madera para la edición limitada, pasando por el album en mp3, bluray, DVD, incluso se puede comprar el video en Vimeo… Es tu forma de satisfacer a todos los fans, verdad?
== Oh sí, es mi misión malcriar a los fans! Siempre lo hago. Son muy leales así que NUNCA quiero decepcionarles.
M.S: Sabiendo que no te gusta tocar en directo y que ahora por desgracia por la situación los conciertos tardarán en volver a la normalidad… ¿tenias intención de hacer una tercera producción de Ayreon en directo? ¿O no había plan para más?
== Los primeros dos eventos fueron un éxito rotundo para los músicos y los fans, así que definitivamente existe la posibilidad de repetir. Si el maldito virus nos deja, por supuesto…
M.S: Y hablando de estudio, ¿habrá nuevo disco de Ayreon? ¿U otros proyectos?
== El nuevo disco de Ayreon,“Transitus”, saldrá a finales de este año. Aun no sé qué vendrá despues. Todo es posible, nunca planeo estas cosas. Y si hago planes… nunca los llevo a cabo!
M.S: Si lo próximo fuera de Ayreon, ¿qué cantantes participarían?
== El elenco de cantantes del nuevo disco de Ayreon “Transitus” es increible, estoy muy orgulloso!
M.S: Y creo que nunca te lo hemos preguntado pero… ¿si no fueras músico, que serías?
== ¡Supongo que estaría tirado en una cuneta! La música es mi vida. Me moriría sin la música.

== All is well, David, thanks for asking!
M.S: Your last “The Electric Castle Live…” came out three weeks ago, what feedback are you receiving from the press and your fans?
== Extremely positive! Normally I’m very insecure about my releases, but this time I was very sure this product. So however arrogant it sounds… I am not surprised that the reactions are so positive ?
M.S: With "Electric Castle…" you were just going to play at “Night of the prog” and with "Ayreon Universe" you went to some of them … We think that the production of EC is much more complex than Ayreon Universe, right?
== Hmm.. not really. I think it’s about the same. But of course designing and building the castle was a big thing! Getting all the singers for Ayreon Universe was quite hard though.
M.S: Who surprised you with his performance in EC shows?
== I know them all very well, so I wasn’t surprised by any of them. They all did what I hoped they would do. Maybe I was most surprised by that Hippie… he did better than I expected ?
MS: It is really meticulous the work that you do to get each one of the editions of “Electric Castle Live”, from a super deluxe wooden box in limited edition, to the album in mp3, bluray, DVD, even being able to buy the video on vimeo… You have to satisfy all kinds of fans, right?
== Oh yes, it is my mission to spoil the fans! Every time. They are very loyal so I NEVER want to disappoint them.
M.S: Knowing that you don’t like playing live and now that unfortunately it will take more … did you intend to do a third production of Ayreon live? Or did you not plan to do more?
== The first two events were such a big success for the musicians and for the fans, so there is definitely a possibility that we do it again. If the damn virus let’s us of course…
M.S: In your studio world, will it be a new Ayreon album turn? Or any other of your projects?
== The new Ayreon album Transitus will be release at the end of this year. I have no idea yet what I will do next. Anything is possible, I never plan these things. And if I plan… I never stick to it!
M.S: If you were from Ayreon do you know which singers could participate?
== The cast of singers on the new Ayreon album Transitus is amazing, I’m so proud of it!
M.S: And I think we have never asked you, but … if you were not a musician, what would you do?
== I guess I would be lying in the gutter somewhere! Music is my life. I’d die without music.
