M.S: Hola, gracias por contestar a nuestras preguntas. ¿Cómo estás?
Martin Höfert: Bien, gracias.
Sonja Kraushofer: De nada… Estoy de camino de vuelta a casa en tren… así que estoy bien gracias.
M.S: Como todavía no habéis tocado en España, ¿podríais presentaros a nuestros lectores? Dinos algo sobre cuándo y cómo se formó el grupo, vuestra situación actual y trabajo…
Sonja: Desafortunadamente, nunca he estado en España, pero espero tener la oportunidad de tocar alli pronto… ¡Nos encantaría dar conciertos en vuestro país!
Bueno, por dónde empezar para presentar al…hmm… No es fácil… Aunque acabemos de sacar nuestro disco debút y hemos tocado ya algunos conciertos COMA DIVINE, nos conocemos de antes desde hace ya bastante. Ashley Dayour y Franz Heinrich eran miembros de los directos del grupo L´ÂME IMMORTELLE desde hacía años, por lo que ya hemos tocado muchas veces juntos. Estar con el grupo siempre fue muy importante para mi como cantante. Siempre quise dar importancia a la colaboración, incluso hablando de la composición musical. Wolfgang Luckner fue el sustituto para nuestro batería en L´ÂME IMMORTELLE en el último tour… Martin y yo trabajamos juntos desde hace ya años en la banda PERSPHONE. Me encanta el cello y Martin conoce muchas formas de incluir este fascinante instrumento. Habiendo distosionado el cello en vez de usar un segundo guitarrista, me resulta fascinante… Siempre tuve algo como eso en mente.
En 2009 empezamos a tener ideas concretas de COMA DIVINE y grabamos algunas demos, en 2011 firmamos con SPV Records y entramos al estudio para grabar nuestro disco debút „Dead End Circle“, producido por el joven talento Zebo Adam. El disco salió en agosto. Hemos tocado un directo como calentamiento en Frankfurt (Alemania), y nuestro primer concierto fue en la edición de este año del festival Mera Luna. Así que el MFVF es nuestro segundo concierto oficial.
M.S: Si alguien quisiera recopilar información vuestra, ¿dónde podrían escucharos o comprar vuestros discos?
Sonja: El disco debería haberse editado en toda Europa, así que no debería ser problema poder adquirirlo en España (espero).
Martin: Para tener una copia, creo que Amazon es una buena idea, a menos que conozcais alguna tienda local que tengan el disco de COMA DIVINE en stock.
Sonja: Podeis escuchar nuestros temas en reverbnation y encontrar información sobre nuestras actividades, fotos de directos y muchas otras cosas en nuestro perfil de facebook. En estos momentos estamos trabajando en nuestra web y la tienda online.
M.S: ¿Cómo se puso en contacto con vosotros la organización de MFVF? ¿Les enviasteis primero vuestro material?, u ¿os llamaron? Estoy seguro de que estáis más que orgullosos por participar en este festival que se celebra cada año, ¿verdad?
Sonja: Si, ¡lo estamos esperando con ganas! Para ser sinceros, tuvimos suerte: Uno de los grupos canceló y nos preguntaron si queríamos tocar allí. El promotor contactó con nuestra agencia.
Ya habíamos tocado allí haceunos años con L`ÂME IMMORTELLE, y me sentí sobrecogida por el festival, así que tenia la esperanza de tocar allí con COMA DIVINE también. Y ahora: Bélgica… ¡aquí llegamos! -)
Martin: Si, es genial poder estar allí, nos sentimos muy emocionados cuando nos pidieron tocar en el festical tras la cancelación de Theatres des Vampires.
M.S: Hoy en día, ¿diríais que tener mujeres en un grupo de metal os deja en un segundo puesto respecto al resto de grupos de la escena del metal? Quiero decir, en el resto de los festivales de metal nos podemos encontrar sólo 2 ó 3 mujeres al frente de grupos. ¿Consideráis que MFVF es una buena forma, para grupos como el vuestro, de tener la oportunidad de tocar en grandes escenarios?
Sonja: ¡Cada festival ofrece grandes oportunidades! En realidad unnca he tenido problemas por ser mujer en este mundillo. Sólo es un hecho que los grupos de este género con cantantes masculinos superan en número a los quye tienen féminas al frente, y según mi opinion esa es la única razón por la que dominan los festivales.
Yo sólo espero que los promotores contraten a los grupos porque son buenos… Sin importar si tiene un hombre o una mujer como cantante… -))
M.S: Estaréis en la novena edición de MFVF, ¿qué grupos os gustaría ver?
Sonja: Me temo que no tendremos mucho tiempo para ver a las otras bandas… Tendremos una sesión de firmas después deldirecto (de 14.00 a 14.30 – ¡¡¡espero veros allí!!!), algunas entrevistas, una sesión de fotosy lamentablemente nos volvemos el mismo día, porque tenemos un largo viaje de vuelta a casa. Sólo espero tener suficiente tiempo para recoger algunas impresiones del festival al menos.
Martin: Ver a DORO estaría genia. Ojalá nos de tiempo.
M.S: Con respecto a vuestra actuación, ¿qué se va a encontrar el público en el escenario?
Martin: A OSCAR!!
Sonja: …y: ¡¡5 personas hambrientas por tocar!!
M.S: Supongo que vais a tocar canciones de vuestro último disco “Dead end Circle”, ¿qué nos podéis contar de él?
Sonja: Sólo ved nuestro show y sabreis de que va…-))
M.S: ¿Qué le diríais a la gente que va a asistir al festival?
Martin: Que es un evento único y muy especial. Difícilmente encontrareis algo parecido en Europa. Y si sois unos enamorados del metal y las voces femeninas: ¡Hay que ir!
M.S: Después del festival, ¿Cuáles son vuestros proyectos más inmediatos?
Martin: ¡Dar muchos otros conciertos!

M.S: As you haven’t played in Spain yet, could you introduce yourselves to our readers? Tell us something about when and how the band was formed, your present situation and work…
Sonja: Unfortunately I`ve never been to Spain, but I hope we`ll get the chance to play there soon… We`d love to play a gig there!
Well, where should I start to introduce the band…hmm… That`s not easy… Although we just released our debut album and played a few gigs with COMA DIVINE we know eachother for quite a long time. Ashley Dayour and Franz Heinrich were members of the L´ÂME IMMORTELLE live band for years, so we already played a lot of gigs togehter. Being with the band was always very important for me as a singer. I always required to increase the collaboration, also concerning the songwriting. Wolfgang Luckner was the substitute for our L´ÂME IMMORTELLE drummer for the last tour… Martin and me work togehter for years now for the band PERSPHONE. I really do love cello and Martin knows so many ways to bring in this fascinating instrument. Having distorted cello instead of a second guitarist, is very exciting for me… I always had something like that, in mind.
In 2009 we started with concrete ideas for COMA DIVINE and recorded demos, in 2011 we signed at SPV Records and went to the studio to record our debut album „Dead End Circle“, produced by the young and talented producer Zebo Adam. The album was released in August. We played a warm up gig in Frankfurt/Germany and our first gig at this years Mera Luna Festival. So the MFVF is our second official concert.
M.S: If someone wants to gather info about you, where could they listen to you or buy your albums?
Sonja: The album should be released across Europe, so it shouldn`t be a problem to buy the album in Spain (hopefully).
Martin: To get the CD I think amazon is a good idea – unless you know a local store by yourself which holds COMA DIVINE on stock.
Sonja: You can listen to our songs on reverbnation and find information about our activities, live photos and many things more on our facebook appearance. At the moment we are working on our website and shop.
M.S: How did the MFVF organization get in touch with you? Did you send them first your material? Or did they call you? I’m sure you’ll be more than proud participating in this festival which is held every year, right?
Sonja: Yeah, we are really looking forward to the festival! To be honest we were just lucky: One band cancelled and so they asked us to play there. The promoter contacted our booking agency.
We already played there some years ago with the band L`ÂME IMMORTELLE and I was overwhelmed by the festival, so I hoped to get the chance to play there with COMA DIVINE too. And now: Belgium… here we come! -)
Martin: Yeah, it‘s a cool thing to be there, we‘re all very excited as we were asked to fill in for Theatres des Vampires who cancelled the show.
M.S: Nowadays, would you say that having women in a metal band leaves you in a second place concerning the rest of the bands in the metal scene? I mean, in the rest of the metal festivals you can find only 2 or 3 women fronted bands. Do you consider MFVF as a good way for bands like yours to have the chance to play in big venues?
Sonja: Each festival offers a great chance! Actually I never ever faced problems by being a female singer. It`s just a fact that bands of this genre with male singers outnumber groups with female vocalists, according to my opinion that`s the only reason why they also dominate the festivals.
I hope that promoters book bands, because they are good… No matter if there`s a male or female singer… -))
M.S: You ’ll be at the eight nine of MFVF, which bands would you like to see?
Sonja: I`m afraid that we won`t have to the time to see other bands… We`ll have a signing session after the show (from 14.00 to 14.30 – hope to see you there!!!), serveral interviews, a photosession and regrettably we`ll go back the same day, because we have a long trip home. I really hope that we`ll have enough time to get a few festival impressions at least.
Martin: DORO would be cool. Hope we can make it.
M.S: Concerning your show, what can the audience find on stage?
Martin: OSCAR!!

M.S: I guess you are playing tracks from your first album “Dead End Circle”, what could you tell us about it?
Sonja: Just watch our show and you`ll know what it`s all about…-))
M.S: What would you say people to attend the festival?
Martin: That it is a very special, unique event. You‘ll hardly find any similar across Europe. And if you‘re in love with metal and female voices: This is where to go!
M.S: After the festival, which are your more immediate projects?
Martin:Playing even more shows!
