¿Nuevo disco?

Coen: Quiero decir, pijama.
Saludos, Coen.

ENGLISH VERSION

M.S: Hello everybody, thank you for your time, how are you?

Coen: I’m doing fine. we are currently touring the UK and so far so good…

M.S: It has been more than half of a year since your last album "Requiem For The Indiferent", are you happy with the result? Do you see it in a good position concerning the musical evolution of the band?

Coen: We are more than happy, the reactions to RftI were really good and the shows we did since the release have been great. This album was the best we could do at that time and I guess it follows the musical evolution of Epica in a natural way.

M.S: You have already made the presentation tour around Europe along with Stream Of Passion and Xandria, and now you chose other bands for the North American tour… what is the balance of the tour

Coen: It is not necessarily us who choose the support acts but we have been very happy with the bands that were on our tours. Stream of Passion and Xandria are awesome people and Insomnium who were on our US tour are awesome as well and their music is also really good!

M.S: This year you are going for the first time to Australia, how do you face up to the tour? How is the feedback from there concerning the audience and the press?

Coen: It is a dream of us to go to undiscovered territories and Australia is high upon our list. So it will be great. Presales are going through the roof and we are expecting a warm welcome 😉

M.S: Congratulations, obviously, for that anniversary-concert, "Retrospect", we would like to know how do you face it up to and which setlist are you preparing… you have said that you will take certain elements of that Classical Conspiracy, will you record it to have a prove of it, this time?

Coen: This show will be the biggest Epica show ever!! It’s on the 23rd of March in Eindhoven (klokgebouw) and we will play with the same orchestra from Hungary with whom we played the classical conspiracy. Expect a lot of extra’s and special elements on this show. The setlst will contain the best Epica songs but also a few surprises, songs we never played live before for instance. Hopefully we can release this show but we are first concentrating on the production of the show itself.

M.S: Anniversary which all the femme metal bands are about to reach… Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, Arch Enemy… from within the band, how do you see the evolution and the situation of this femme metal style?

Coen: We have always followed our own path, not so much trying to follow the trends in female metal land. I think we are one of the heaviest bands in the genre and therefore have so much people who still appreciate our music. It is female fronted but still metal, and that is important to us.

M.S: To carry on with the videos… If we are not wrong, you recorded your show in some MFVF to make a DVD, right? What has been done with that recording? Have you ever think of editing it any time?

Coen: That material lies in our basement and will be released when the time is right. If we are going to release a DVD than we want it to be form the highest quality, not so much a regular show or something. You can see that on youtube anyday.

M.S: Which plans has the band planned after the anniversary? To carry on with the RFTI tour? New album?

Coen: Well we are doing Australia and are trying to have some shows in Asia as well. After that we will do festivals and slowly going to write and record some new material.

M.S: Just to finish, what do you think about changing Anette Olsen for your colleague of Mayan, Floor Jansen? They did not say anything about her for being thesinger of the next album, should it be her?

Coen: I am not in MaYaN. I think that for Nightwish there is no better choice than Floor. She is a great singer and has the experience fronting a big band. They will not find any singer that is better for that job in my opinion.

M.S: Up to here, there are no more questions, anything you want to say… this is the moment to do it. Thank you very much for your time and see you soon!

Coen: I want to say, pyjamas.

Cheers Coen
